On August 13th, 1894, the Articles of Association were signed for New England Kurn Hattin Homes, and the Reverend Charles A. Dickinson, native of Westminster, Vermont, and then pastor of Boston's Berkeley Temple, had succeeded in creating a haven for boys who needed a secure place to live, go to school, learn self-reliance and become generally prepared to live productive and satisfying lives. Reverend Dickinson's dream began with two boys, a man and wife as houseparents, and one teacher. Today Kurn Hattin is a nationally-recognized, charitable residential school for boys and girls who deserve and need the opportunities Kurn Hattin provides in year-round programs and services. This history is the story of the dedicated men and women who put their talents, their energies, and their idealism to the tasks of helping thousands of children discover and develop their potential.
